FemSMed welcomes the project's new postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Joseph Jackson-Eade! Joseph has completed his BA in History and Anthropology from the University of Lyon and an MA in Global History from the University of Bologna. In June 2024, he completed his PhD in Global History at the University of Bologna. His doctoral dissertation,Communication and Empire: Interpreters, Networks and Archive in Early Portuguese Exploration (ca.1500-1520), was supervised by professors Giuseppe Marcocci (University of Oxford) and Jorge Flores (University of Lisbon).
Drawing on his extensive expertise in Iberian archives, during his postdoctoral fellowship term at FemSMed he will be exploring The Trafficking of Enslaved Women from Africa through Portugal to Spain in the early modern era.
