FemSMed's members presenting at a conference in the Sorbonne

Four members of the FemSMed team will be presenting their findings at the conference "Minority and Majority in Medici Tuscany," which will be held at the Sorbonne, Paris, on November 28. Graduate researcher Yasmine Segol will be presenting a paper titled "From Florence to the French Court: Caterina de' Medici's Enslaved Female Servants"; Graduate researcher Eliah Jaffe will be presenting a paper on "L’intégration d’une esclave dans la communauté juive de Livourne", FemSMed's postdoc Dr. Benedetta Chizzolini will be presenting a paper on "Female Baptisms and Political Power: The Conversions of Enslaved Women in Medicean Tuscany." FemSMed's PI, Prof. Tamar Herzig, will deliver a keynote lecture on "Female Enslavement and Intercommunal Relations in Grand Ducal Tuscany."
